The ‘Cancel Button’ does not work and this will make you miss important phone calls until you re-set your user preferences.
Once that happens, the machine will take any call on the first ring and, as far as I can tell, there is no way to take the line back and answer the incoming voice call. If the power goes out and comes back on, the 1600n reverts back to the default ‘User Preference’ settings. User preferences are stored in volatile memory.

Takes a good deal of time to figure out how to navigate. The 1600n control panel is not intuitive. I bought this to replace a twelve year old HP LJ3100 simply because HP does not make an XP, Vista or Win7 driver for it. Dell's only remedy is to install a dedicated fax line - spend at least an additional $20/month. It didn't matter how they set up the new machines, they had no success with the Tel/Fax functionality. based technical staff worked online using a Web-Connect technology for several days, 1st trying to get the new printers to maintain a wireless connection, and 2nd to set up those new machines to differentiate a phone call from fax telemetry. In fact, the only reason I looked for a used one was because the new Dell Multi-Function Printers such as the E515dw and the H815dw, can't perform the Tel/Fax function at all.
It worked as well as my older Dell MFP 1600n - with the same print quality, scanning capability and multitasking feature. just plug it in, insert a toner cartridge, add paper and program it to do what you want it to do. Once I learned how to unlock the scanner (I found instructions on line), set up was simple
